Special Storytime Author Event Wednesday, May 6, 2:15 – 2:45 pm. Join us for a special storytime with local children’s author Kami Bratten! Part of Skagit Kids Read Week, this is a community celebration of literacy and the joy of reading. No registration required – just drop in and enjoy!

Junior Art Walk Class: Creative Printmaking Workshop Friday, May 8, 3:00 – 4:00 pm.
Kids ages 6-18, come discover the fun of printmaking at this beginner-friendly workshop with local artist Stephanie Brown. All supplies provided.

Lego Club Friday, May 8, 3:00 – 4:00 pm. Kids of all ages, come build Lego challenges, have snacks, and get creative with other enthusiasts.

Not Just a Mending Circle Tuesday, May 12, 4:00 – 6:00 pm. A drop-in space to work on your own sewing, needle art, mending projects, or to chat and enjoy creative company. All ages welcome.

Local Author Reading: Mary Jacobs Wednesday, May 27, 1:00 – 2:00 pm. Join local author, Mary Jacobs, as she reads from her memoir “She Takes the Helm: Lessons in Grit from Alaska’s Fishing Grounds.”

Tech Help, Mondays, 3:00 - 5:00 pm. Schedule your one-on-one 30-minute slot for help with technical issues. (Next tech Monday will be May 18)

Storytime, Wednesday, 2:15 - 2:45 pm & Friday, 11:00-11:30 am. Bring your little ones to the library for stories and crafts. All ages welcome.

3rd Annual Junior Art Walk May 15 -17

Get ready to celebrate young creativity at the La Conner Swinomish Library’s 3rd Annual Junior Art Walk May 15-17

Art by local junior artists will be proudly displayed in participating business windows along Morris and First Streets in downtown La Conner, transforming the town into a vibrant, walkable gallery. From colorful drawings to imaginative mixed‑media pieces, this event highlights the talent, perspective, and hard work of our junior artists.

Stop by the La Conner Swinomish Library to pick up your Art Walk map, which includes each artist’s name and the location of their artwork, making it easy to explore and enjoy the full experience. Bring your family, invite a friend, and discover art throughout town while supporting local youth and businesses.

Don’t miss this inspiring community celebration!

Foundation Corner

With great thanks to all who gave, this year’s Library Giving Day raised approximately $12,000 toward the Foundation’s annual support of the La Conner Swinomish Library!

We are also thrilled to share that the Diane Webb Books for Children Program is in its third year of putting books in the hands of La Conner youth. This program, funded by a generous grant from the Skagit Community Foundation, allows our Foundation to give a book to every La Conner student, grades K through 8. This year, we are distributing books at the elementary and middle schools and are already looking forward to another magical storytime in December, when each child will receive a special wrapped book from Santa himself!

As we celebrate our library as a place of discovery, connection, and inspiration, we invite you to consider a donation in any amount to further our impact through our youth and adult programs, online learning resources, community gatherings, and more.
