Alaska Roadtrip Presentation, Thursday, November 13, 6:00 - 7:00 pm. Join Nancy Crowell and Bill Chambers for an exciting virtual trip to Alaska.

Lego Club, Friday, November 14, 3:00 - 4:00 pm. Kids of all ages, come build Lego challenges, have snacks, and get creative with other enthusiasts.

Tech Help Mondays, 3:00 - 5:00 pm. Call 360-466-3352 or stop by the library to schedule your one-on-one 30-minute slot for help with technical issues. (Next Tech Monday November 10).

Storytime, Fridays, 11:00 - 11:30 am. Bring your little ones to the library for stories, songs, and crafts. All ages welcome.

Native American Heritage Month

Instituted by President George H.W. Bush in 1990, November was designated as Native American Heritage Month because that is the time of many traditional, cultural, social, and spiritual events for Native Americans. It is a time of organizing and summoning those that would march and protest the current state of Indigenous relations with that of the so-called colonizers and powers that be. Celebrations include educational webinars, events, festivals, and other activities to honor and educate the public about Native American culture and history.

Welcome Karah!

The library is excited to welcome Karah Watkinson as our newest staff member. Karah, a former elementary teacher, is joining us as a library assistant. Karah will share the position with Jinda, who has decided to stay with us two days per week. Karah will focus on youth services and Friday Storytime. She loves creating engaging, welcoming spaces where young readers can explore, imagine, and grow. When she’s not at the library, Karah enjoys spending time with her family, going on walks with her children, and working on embroidery or cross-stitch projects. Be sure to stop by the circulation desk to welcome Karah and to say hi to Jinda!

📚Book Corner 📚

Beginnings: A Meditation on Coast Salish Lifeways By Patrick J Twohy is a poetic narrative that tells the story of the Coast Salish People from pre-contact with Europeans to present day. This book is designed to foster understanding between First Nations People and other Peoples. Filled with quotes and pictures of respected elders, this book will open your heart to a new vision of hope and understanding.

Lula Dean’s Little Library of Banned Books By Kristen Miller is a novel about a small town in Georgia where a local woman, Lula Dean, starts a campaign to ban books in the local library. She stocks the little free library in her yard with ‘wholesome’ books. A local troublemaker secretly swaps the books with banned titles. As townspeople borrow and read the hidden books their lives are unexpectedly changed. The conflict escalates when Lula runs for mayor against rival Beverly Underwood. The results change the town forever. A great book that deals with a variety of current issues in a gentle but profound way.
