Lego Club, Friday, July 11, 3:00-4:00 pm Kids of all ages, come build Lego challenges, have snacks, and get creative with other enthusiasts.

Wednesday, July 9, 3:15-4:15 pm Volunteer Orientation Interested in volunteering at the library? Come find out what it is all about at our Volunteer Orientation.

Tabletop Game Night, Tuesday, July 22 5:00-7:00 pm Tabletop gamers, come to our first tabletop game night and learn to play Coyote and Crow. (see below for more details)

Compost & Worm Bin Class, Thursday, July 24th, 1:00-2:00 pm Want to find out more about composting and worm bins for home gardeners? This workshop will show you different ways to set up a compost system and the basics of keeping worms (vermiculture) to produce nutritious worm castings for your garden. 

Tech Help Mondays, 3:00-5:00 pm Schedule your one-on-one 30-minute slot for help with technical issues.

Storytime, Fridays, 11:00-11:30 am Bring your little ones to the library for stories and crafts. All ages welcome.

Tie Dye T-Shirts: Wednesday, July 9 12:00-2:00 pm Come make a cool tie dye shirt. Bring your own shirt to dye, or the library will provide shirts while supplies last

Harmonica Pocket: Friday, July 18 2:30 pm A fun, interactive performance. Sing and dance along with fun songs. Always a summer reading favorite!

Slime Making: Wednesday, July 23 11:30 am-1:00 pm Ewwwey, Gooey fun for everyone! Come make your own slime

Pegasus Puppet Theatre Presents Stellaluna, Wednesday, August 6 10:30-11:30 am Come see Pegasus Puppet Theatre’s production of children’s favorite, Stellaluna, presented by Pegasus Puppet Theatre

Tabletop Game Night

We will conduct our first Coyote and Crow tabletop role playing game on Tuesday, July 22nd from 5:00-7:00 pm at the La Conner Swinomish Library Community Room. The first session will be an introduction to the game Coyote and Crow including character development and a test run of the game called Station 54.

All are invited regardless of ability, so if you’re a first timer like me or an experienced player, you’re more than welcome. Come and join us to learn more about Coyote and Crow, a utopian world where everyone works together to overcome life’s struggles and dilemmas. It is more about cooperation than it is about winning the game. It is about utilizing your spirit animal to traverse the realm of Cahokia, the city where anything is possible. People stem from tribal upbringings, but they have not been colonized. They have the benefit of devices, weapons, and abilities to circumnavigate the obstacles to their goals and objectives. So, what are your goals? What are your objectives? Come find out and play Coyote and Crow!

Foundation Corner

This month we would like to highlight the Library Book Nook. The Friends of La Conner Swinomish Library have long operated a Book Nook as a place for patrons to find literary treasures they can take with them for a donation. In the old library, our Book Nook was staffed by a group of volunteers from the Friends of the Library who would guide treasure hunters to just the right book. It then moved to the Friends of the Library Thrift Store, a place where patrons could find literary and other treasures galore. Our current book nook is kept well stocked by the La Conner Library Foundation and several faithful volunteers who sort donations to find just the right books on the shelves. 

Books Nooks are a great place for library patrons and visitors alike to find a good read while at the same time donating to a good cause.  Our Book Nook is currently in need of both children’s books and paperback fiction books.  If you have books you would like to donate, please contact Marion Melville, one of our faithful volunteer book nook volunteers, at 360-770-6231. She will contact you to schedule a time to pick up your donation.  Please do not bring donations directly to the library, all donations go through the book nook coordinators. 

👸🏽Friday Story Time🐲

Bring your kids to the library every Friday at 11 am. We’ll dive into a variety of exciting stories, followed by activities and creative crafts that bring the tales to life. It’s the perfect way to spark imagination, learn new things, promote early literacy, and make new friends. We look forward to seeing you there!
